Believe it or not, last night came close to being our coldest night of this month under clear skies. We just missed out on that by around 100th of 1°C as the overnight minimum temperature dropped to just 3.06°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank. Our coldest night of this month wasn't enough to give us a ground frost, but a ground frost was recorded last night at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
Today, it was bright for much of the time with the odd cloudier period. In the end, a total of 8.3 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank within what is clearly now going to be yet another duller than average month with this spring now also certain to go down as being duller than average overall because even with the lighter nights at this time of year, there isn't enough available daylight during the rest of this month, to be able to bring this spring's overall sunshine total up to the 1991-2020 spring average.
Despite the sunshine though, it never really got all that warm for this time of the year with the temperature rising only to 15.76°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
Meanwhile, the temperature as at 11pm BST (22:00 UTC) had dropped back to a rather cool 9°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
