Ah the divergence between the Met Office and BBC again.
Hail now and a notable drop in temp too.

This lightning map shows some activity over Dorset notably around the Portland area (just south of me) and also Verwood north of Bournemouth.
Normally the local paper mentions heavy rain but this time they've been oblivious to what's going on today. Perhaps they use pure Met Office stuff?

To be fair this is the metoffice

"Patchy light rain and drizzle in the far west will ease during the morning. Showers widely developing in the east during the afternoon, often heavy and carrying the risk of thunder. Breezy in the far west, but feeling warm."

I think it's more because I'm close to the boundary between SE & SW but fall under the SE

Ah the novelty of a thunderstorm this afternoon. The radar shows up the activity well enough. One right overhead as I type.
No visit to the beach this evening I think.
