Hi Folks. Not noticed any threads on convective activity lately, so I thought set this one up for May 2023. Currently considerable thunder activity over central and eastern England (16.00 hrs).

Can hear distant thunder it seems to be around Thirsk/Sutton Bank and though wind is from that way it isn't moving much if at all.
It does feel warmish and muggy well it got to 15.7C briefly, now 14C

Had a lovely thunder storm with hail about 1pm.  Can hear thunder again now and it’s going dark!

No showers here, but a few hefty ones have passed by this afternoon. There was even a few deep, distant rumbles of thunder before.

I can see the storm heading up the NW coast towards Southport from my back window. A very deep cloud base in the western sky with thick rain shafts occasionally lit up by a flash of lightning. There's the odd rumble of very deep, distant thunder audible from here too.

That was another good storm between 5pm and 6pm.  I could hear the thunder approaching and it got dark and windy before the rain. Some good flashes and crashes directly over us with torrential rain.  It took a while to rumble off into the distance  👍

More thunder, lightning and heavy rain!  Not as much as the previous two storms we’ve had today.

I'm in north Nottingham this weekend (Mapperley) and we've had dramatic skies full of cumulonimbus. We are SW of Caz so have had similar but the storms matured as they moved NE towards her

Heard thunder over Nuneaton as it was developing as it moving to NE from here.  Talk to my wife about how we lost all the good storms here and not seeing dark approaching clouds after sunny time like before.

The storm we had at teatime was the best we’ve had for a while. It approached with the classic dark sky, sudden gusty wind and rumbling thunder. Then it seemed to stall right over us.  The one we had at lunchtime was completely different, more localised, less dramatic and gave little warning.  Not as much thunder but a lot of rain and hail.  My brother who lives a mile from me, only had a bit of rain.

Ireland seems to have had numerous storms this Spring. This afternoon and evening there are frequent lightning discharges, especially around Dublin and Belfast

Could be some decent convection across the south and especially southeast tomorrow?

Potential for some very lively storms in south today with decent hail and thunder and localised flash floods. Should be some kicking off fairly soon

Lively over the SW at the moment, could be some very lively weather if it develops more as it moves east

Sunny spells here at 20C so pleasant enough but only in the sunny spells. The heavy thundery rain looks like missing this area as it often does, though the radar shows some reasonably impressive stuff to the west on the other side of Lyme Bay and of course in the Midlands.

Yes impressive …
Strong gusty winds ahead of a good thunderstorm with a  jet black sky. Still raining 3 hours later… that’s 3 inches of rain in 24 hrs and still a hosepipe ban….

Just had a very close (within half a mile) CG strike. Extremely heavy rain with plenty of 200mm+ per hour colours on the radar. And this was just the preliminary showers!
