Nice and quiet this morning as not heard the usual aircraft noise but suspect it will be open again later.

A Wizz air flight from Krakow tried to land a number of times but is now heading to Glasgow. That won't be a fun bus trip back to Leeds

We must have close to 7+ inches in Kirkby in ashfield after yesterday's 3 inches. Definitely makes for a nice day of sledging

Thanks. I suspect people may need to renew signatures if they haven't posted since the new software came in.

Not a patch on 'up north' but quite heavy wet snow is now falling in Snalbans. Combined with a strong breeze, blowing it almost horizontally, it is looking more wintry than at any previous time this winter.

Questionable decisions - from the BBC's live feed, abridged:

Kim was on her way home to Halifax from Manchester overnight, with friends, when their car got stranded. "We are still stranded at the moment," Kim told BBC's Radio 5  early this morning. Kim went to a concert in Manchester said they had considered not travelling last night, but had assumed their 4x4 would cope in the conditions.

"The M62 was shut, so we thought we would take the A road," she said. "We thought we would be alright, but as we got higher and higher, it just got worse and worse. We spent a couple of hours completely stuck, freezing. Next thing we knew mountain rescue were knocking on the window with their torches. "

👍

We have 1-2cm on grass, cars and some other surfaces. Zilch on roads & pavements.

Rather a 'bust' here.

Never mind, there's always next winter... 😒

Feel a bit bad posting in here this morning having seen what's occuring further south.

We have about a cm of snow and hail. It's frozen at -1 C but will be soon gone!

Fantastic clear blue sky!

Looks like you're lucky to have got 1cm of snow this time.

Here in NW Edinburgh where I am, we have nothing more than a very light dusting and I'm noticing that the Pentland Hills to my south are still looking decidedly green.

Of course, there's nothing unusual about the south of Edinburgh getting more snow than the north of Edinburgh, but it is surely very unusual for there to be very little or even nothing in the way of lying snow on the Pentland Hills whilst the south of Edinburgh has had a little bit of it as I would have thought that the Pentland Hills would have been even more likely than the south of Edinburgh to have got that snow due to its higher elevation, and as a result of being further inland as well.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Yes, I’ve raised that point several times. Posts like that are useless unless people say where they are, or put their location in their signature.

should be fizzling out quickly in next hour or so for everyone. Roll on next event Saturday eve which looks a bit more substantial and predictable (for some)
Was not totally surprised with ‘chaos’ and ‘trapped for hours’   Often a severe lack of awareness and planning - it just takes a few.

We managed 6cm!! Best snow since 2014, though that melted immediatley overnight

therefor the best snow since 2010. 13 yrs wait for what many would consider awful.
