Even closer but still no cigar today. 10.6°C was today's high. That said, with the rain and dampness, I've felt quite cold today.

Max today 8.7C after -2.9C overnight, although this isn't the first sub 10C maximum here.

Rain came in after the frosty start and it was 0.8C with steady rain at 10am! Nowhere near snow though as Cairngorm was reading +1C at the time.

Still it's the first proper winter feeling day in at leat 6 months.

It looks like today has done it here - a high of 9.5°C under cloud and rain. That of course assumes that the approaching weather front tonight doesn't lift the temperature above 10°C before midnight (which looks unlikely).

Even here in rural Northern England, this will make today the first single figure maximum day since 9 April.

Might finally get some single figure maxes from midweek then perhaps consistently after that as it cools down.

And if we get October set-up with lot of sunshine and 9C temps in between rain that give us much warmer indoors than this week supposedly sunny and mild when actually indoors are cooler than during non-HP days.  Useless apps still gunning for sunny weather but saw the rain this morning and overcast.  This cloudy HP will sod off thankfully tomorrow.

Work better sunny 9C and indoors 20-22C, or cloudy wet 16C and indoors 18C?

Tomorrow could be the first widespread single digit maxima of the season.

Its even possible here in Kent if the cloud and light showers push in early enough.

Maxed out at 9.9°C here today so just bout a single figure max. The rain today has however been the big headline..

Still managed 13C today despite the significantly cooler feeling air.

Had a 6 degree max yesterday due to persistent fog so first single digit max this season achieved. Normally, mid to late October is the more common period to achieve the first sub 10c max in these parts.

I made a liar of myself. First single figure max I recorded was actually on the 15th. I need to keep better track, and the 6c I quoted was actua 7c, which was achieved just right before midnight..

8.6 maximum here today. I haven't been paying too much attention to maxima to be honest but I think this is the first day with a sub 10c max. Probably a bit late but sub 10c maxima have always generally been an November thing here for the most part(as opposed to October).

There continues to be an unprecedented dearth of anything remotely cold here. Four single digit maxes but by this stage of November the average max is only 8C. So far this Autumn the lowest max is 9.0C. That's more than a degree warmer than my previous record at this stage: 7.9C in 2009

Could well just squeeze it here: 9.9C is the max so far, and it's been raining for a while so the temperature's not had as much chance to rise.

If it stays that way, it'll be the first time since the 8th April that it's not reached double figures.

EDIT: And the previous few years' first sub-10C maximim were on the 21st November in 2021, 26th November in 2020, 11th November in 2019, 30th October in 2018 and the 8th November in 2017. In other words, this year is pretty average.

And yes, in the end 9.9 was the high. The first of many sub 10C maxima over the next few months.

Max of 8.0c here today.  Apart from 6th March (7.9c) that's the lowest max I have recorded since 25th January

Oddly, didn't feel especially cold (despite the rain)
