I believe it was Jersey's warmest ever night by at least 5c!  Felt  like a really sultry night in the Balearics.  Storms later here

Got down to a respectable 19.1C here overnight. Some amazing high minimums being reported on here. Up to 25.3C at 8.00am, warmer than same time yesterday.

Between 6 am and 7 am the temperature at Southampton airport rose from 18° to 25°. At 7.50 it was 27°

That's the fastest rise at that time of day I have ever known locally.

Yes, very steep rise this morning. My PWS increased by 8.7 degrees in that same period, to 26.

27c here already

Mine was 16 deg when I got up (6AM)  it's now 24.3

I suspect some of these rapid rises are due to inversion layers  being "cooked off" !!

I was glad to get some of that early  16 deg stuff into the house though !!

The other one is for the Archive/Classic Threads to mark the day, so i would imagine people should post date specific things in there, whereas this  is the original general heatwave discussion thread.  Probably best to use the other one. 

Hopefully, when this is over, the more doom laden predictions earlier in the thread will be proven wrong.

The Express again hasn't made anything of the heatwave on today's front page, there is a swipe at home workers going to the beach though.
It is utterly ridiculous given how much rubbish hype they post about the weather throughout any other week of the year.
So basically they avoid the truth and only post about the weather when it is false. A headline about sizzling record temps today would likely be true. 

Unless they 'predicted' it a couple of months ago and they could then gloat about how they were right, and presumably they didn't.

Didn’t happen here in northern Norfolk though, low was near 20*C based on local stations. Not an experience I wish to experience again any time soon… but alas tonight could be quite similar, maybe a degree or two cooler with any luck.

Still, it’s a fascinating experience and who knows, I might experience 40*C in the UK today, what a thought!

It's more likely to be because there is saturation coverage which makes it more difficult for various reasons. I was on Times Radio last week and did some press stuff but no one is interested now because the bigger players are on the field.

Currently around 24°C according to my app, but it is forecast to get a lot hotter than that with some forecasts going as high as 36°C.

Many of the other papers do have the heat as the headline though.

Metcheck has temps peaking at 35c by 1pm then a 9c fall by 6pm.

They think its all over - it nearly is.
