One-third of Pakistan underwater, according to reports.
Pakistan is just short of 800,000 sq km; a third of that is greater than the total area of Britain at 250,000 sq km. Mind-boggling

Correction, courtesy of BBC's 'More or Less'; a third of all administrative districts in Pakistan have declared a state of catastrophe. That's still really bad, but not so dramatic as originally reported.
France recorded its hottest ever September day today 40.7c in Begaar in the SW.
A crazy temperature for so late in the year.

Confirmation of that? Couldn't find anything on a quick search
Weatheronline shows Pau, Dax and Mont-de-Marsan all at 39C so I guess 40.7C somewhere nearby is possible but is it official? The official records appear to have broken local records at least
From Meteociel:

It was on Twitter , but cant see any official confirmation yet.
By next week from the charts I view with sausage shaped HP from SW to Scandi which will bring some warmth back here from France to low 20's. Any heat left in France will aid us some further warmth and hope that push to early October.

Shitai, Anhui Province hit 40c yesterday making it the first time in Chinese history that they've hit 40c in October
A area near Nicosia at same time reached at 41.2C in Alonoudi while Nicosia was 40.2C.
Wish UK offer some variety in Autumn. Autumn shouldn't' be all about rain and winds, there should be some hot to start with in Autumn to warm spells the colder spells in later part of Autumn.
