We got 5mm of useful rain here yesterday but still basically drought conditions in the soil for plant growth. Still at leasy it isn't evaporating!

Yes, still nothing particularly inspiring showing up on the models yet, with HLB presisting well through the reliable time frame. There's nothing in the way of summer with temperatures generally below average to average at best with some wetter and some drier days.

The last 2 days have been horrendous here. Cold, concrete skies and varying amounts of rain. Max temp today 10.9C so far and 12.2C yesterday.

Presicley.  I might start spending the few dry days chopping logs for winter.   Not ideal.

Same here Brian and only marginally warmer in Fulham. Today has been particularly dire with leaden skies and a keen NE wind. This spell of weather has been ongoing now for over 7 weeks with currently no end in sight so I hope your 30 degrees will materialise!

Pretty much back to square one on the 12z GFS. No sign of anything particularly resembling late spring now and back to largely cool, albeit perhaps not *quite* as much rain. One of the worst springs in my lifetime.

It really hasn’t been too bad here this past week. Yes some showers but nothing out of the ordinary. I think I’ve been in a lucky spot.

Also a couple of pleasant evenings, this one included.

You are very lucky indeed. Here we have been utterly deluged. Cricket grounds across the county are flooded, mine is completely under water. Weather has been as bad as I can recall for this time of the year. I am not exaggerating to say its been one of the wettest Mays I have ever seen, and we are only 14 days in.

I have to agree with your summary of this extraordinary weather pattern which is unrelenting in its incessant damp and cool conditions . One can only hope that later this month conditions will improve if nothing else temperature wise and the removal of the northern blocking so prevalent currently in our part of north western Europe..

Not a very strong signal at the moment though is it, but perhaps we would be due some sort of pattern change by then, after a month of cold and dry in April, we will have had a month of cold and wet in May by then...

Same here.  Quite pleasant temps with some good thunderstorms but not a great deal of rain.

Short then. 1986 (?) was awful too.

But, around 125mm of rain here so far, which is already one of the wetter Mays I can remember over the past ~50 years. But, to be fair, the last two days have been very wet in a very localised area around here.

Sadly, not much change to be had over a forseeable time scale.

You've been incredibly lucky. Every evening this week has been deluged (apart from 10C breezy cloudy tonight)

Decent mornings but dross apart from that.
