Thursday was the wettest day for over 2 years here with a total of 52mm, almost our entire average November rainfall in just one day. That on top of 11mm from Wednesday night means that 63mm fell in total from this event.  The sheer persistence of the heavy rain right throughout the day and into the night was remarkable.

Has resulted in flooding in some surrounding areas here, although Gainsborough seems to have largely escaped as far as I'm aware.

Also it was the wettest November day I've recorded, and the wettest Autumn day I've recorded.  And the 5th wettest day here in the last 37 years.   Staggering really, considering the top 4 wettest days here are all Summer months only.

So our November total is now up to 71mm, already well past our average of 55mm.   Looks like the current record for November here (118mm in 2000) is definitely under threat.

Autumn total now up to 293mm,  getting very close to beating the wettest Autumn recorded here, (315mm in 2000).

Surprised that there's not more comment on the Sheffield deluge.

Here's Fishlake, which is in the news this morning, with a graph of river level off scale and only now returning to the top of the chart

A total of 3.0 mm of rain has fallen at Edinburgh Gogarbank since 9am yesterday morning along with 4.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

For Edinburgh Gogarbank, this brings the total for this month to 51.4 mm, the total for this autumn to 227.0 mm and the total for this year to 784.4 mm as at 7am this morning.

For the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this brings the total for this month to 48.8 mm, the total for this autumn to 234.4 mm and the total for this year to 771.4 mm as at 7am this morning.

This means that a minimum total of 13.4 mm of rain now needs to fall at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh between now and the end of this month, in order for this month to go down as being wetter than average there overall in terms of the actual rainfall amounts.

After some more rain fell last night, my back yard total for so far this month now stands at 133.6 mm.

And it's not even halfway through November so I wonder if I'll end up with a Winter 2013-14-style 200 mm for the month.
