Nicest part of the day here now, hazy sunny spells and we've reached our max temp of 20.5c for the day so far.

It’s brighter now than it’s been all day, 21.9c with a hazy sun and pale blue mottled sky (new technical term).

After intense rain in the night it was a gloomy humid morning in West Yorks. Heavy showers broke out with thunder rumbling for a while. Then we've had a warm bright afternoon and evening. Warm enough to sit out but humid with clouds of biting midges!

After all of today's excitement, this evening just fizzled out into a dull and overcast nothingness which means that in the end, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

That makes today the third completely sunless day of this month and the third sunless day of this summer at that particular station and unless we start getting a lot more in the way of sunshine within the next day or so once again, this month will then be going down as duller than average overall.

There hasn't been any further additions to today's rainfall totals since my last report here, although I think that we've had quite a lot more than enough rain for just now anyway, after what has happened during today.

Normally, I would have reported today's maximum temperatures long before now but even at this late stage of this evening, they have still never actually maxed out for today. Throughout today, the temperatures have continued to change very little but they are still continuing to go up very slowly over time which means that the temperatures are currently as high as what they have been all day.

With that in mind, the temperature at 10pm tonight was 13.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
