It looks fairly clear from here, but the temperatures are still not dropping just now due to there being too much wind around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 8.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning has started off on another mostly overcast note, but the Sun is now just starting to break through that cloud a bit more at times.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so we haven't even come anywhere close to getting a frost here (it is usually elsewhere after all, that the "interesting" weather happens).

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After yesterday's mild cloudy dross the skies cleared overnight.

Of course as soon as it gets to dawn the sky fills with crap again. Awful boring milky high cloud.

Just can't even get one day of light winds, blue skies and sun. It is absolutely pathetic. Even with the clear skies overnight it didn't get cold with a min of 4.0C. Up to 9.2C now with weak sun.

Earlier on this morning, it had looked as though the Sun was breaking through all of the cloud, but that didn't last for long and this morning has been largely overcast.

The Sun has now finally made an appearance as I write, but nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

With the exception of some high cloud which is around just now, this afternoon ended up being mostly completely sunny so that a total of 4.8 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this evening.

However, the wind has picked up yet again, and was gusting up to 29.8mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this evening despite the very close proximity of a large area of high pressure just to our south.

Today's maximum temperature was 12.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this evening was 11.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Brian hasn't mentioned anything about the change of icons on this site (along with a few other changes to this forum which I have just noticed this evening) and these changes will take a bit of getting used to, but the new icons look a lot cleaner and more colourful.

I also like the way in which a post now autosaves as you're writting it, so that you don't risk losing all of that work if your internet connection suddenly drops whilst you are in the process of trying to submit that post.

Anyway and back on topic, there has been a lot of thin high cloud during the latter part of this afternoon and into this evening, but there has also been some nice sunshine to end the day so that in the end, a total of 5.2 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

So far as well, this has now taken us into something which we haven't had for quite a while in these parts, and that is a clear night.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 8.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
