We've got heavy blustery showers blowing through with a lot of wintriness mixed in and even a few small flakes of snow falling along with rain and hail. Ok in the greenhouse where I've been most of the morning but it's pretty nasty at times outside.

Temps at 6.7C but falls sharply every time a shower passes.

Fine and sunny with the solar input easily being felt via the strong blustery west wind and 11.1 c & 54% h. Perfect for airing the house out with a couple of windows ajar, especially when I do the roast dinner soon.

Apart from a blink-and-you'd-miss-it shower earlier on today, the showers that has been moving through Kent so far today have avoided my location.

It's been a horrendous afternoon with frequent showers and longer spells of rain, sleet, wet snow and graupel with only very brief glimpses of the Sun in between all of that. However, the Sun has made a bit more of an appearance during the last wee while and a total of 24 minutes of sunshine has now finally been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm.

However, all of that precipitation during this afternoon has now increased today's rainfall total so far as at 4pm this afternoon to 6.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 5.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes today the third wettest day of this spring so far at both of those stations.

The wind has picked up a bit more during the course of this afternoon as well, and was gusting up to 32.3mph from the west at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

However, the temperatures have taken a little bit of a late boost from that sunshine and so, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 5.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 4.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Out with the dogs and had a nasty storm, wind, rain and large snowflakes followed by some very strange clouds, couldn't take a picture and they only lasted 10 minutes, looked them up when I got home and they were mammatus clouds, nice to see something new.
Dawn.

Very windy, but lovely bright skies this afternoon. It feels like being at the seaside.

Impressive wind power generation this weekend too: we were at 14.2gw earlier today alongside 5gw of solar. More than 50% of total U.K. generation. Now 13.8 and 1.6 respectively. Yesterday was similar.

With this week’s forecast and given some recent offshore installations going on stream I reckon we could see a record few days for wind power.

The wintry showers which were around earlier on appear to have departed the scene for now at least and in the end, a total of 42 minutes of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

The wind also appears to have died down slightly as well, although it was still gusting up to 28.9mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank at 8pm this evening.

Today's maximum temperature was 5.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 4°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so it has been a rather cold day for this time of the year, and the coldest day of this spring so far at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 1.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 2°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

0.9c with snow showers and clear periods.
Some slushy accumulations which have frozen onto some surfaces.

Very windy. I note a couple of planes are circling having aborted landings.

Recent gusts 55mph.
