Conclusion:
February was a very poor month altogether in terms of cold weather, snow and frost and with the exception of the very last day of the month itself, it even finished with a lot of spring-like.and even almost summer-like weather.
It was a substantially warmer than average month and although there were some frosts during that warmer spell towards the end of the month due to some very large diurnal temperature range, the number of official air frosts during February was well below the 1981-2010 average for that.
It was also a very dry month both in terms of the actual rainfall amounts and the number of official rain days, although that wasn't quite as dry a month as what January was.
However, it was a substantially sunnier than average month with just the very dull day which we had yesterday on the very last day of the month, being the only thing which prevented us from going through the entire month of February without a single completely sunless day being recorded.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
