Conclusion:

February was a very poor month altogether in terms of cold weather, snow and frost and with the exception of the very last day of the month itself, it even finished with a lot of spring-like.and even almost summer-like weather.

It was a substantially warmer than average month and although there were some frosts during that warmer spell towards the end of the month due to some very large diurnal temperature range, the number of official air frosts during February was well below the 1981-2010 average for that.

It was also a very dry month both in terms of the actual rainfall amounts and the number of official rain days, although that wasn't quite as dry a month as what January was.

However, it was a substantially sunnier than average month with just the very dull day which we had yesterday on the very last day of the month, being the only thing which prevented us from going through the entire month of February without a single completely sunless day being recorded.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Total For Month: 109.6 (139.6% of 1981-2010 average)
Sunniest Day: 9.5 (on 26/2)
Sunless Days: 2

Conclusion:

The botanic gardens in Edinburgh was drier overall than Edinburgh Gogarbank during February, but had fewer completely dry days although that is probably just due to there being more days there where small amounts of "rainfall" have been recorded as a result of condensation, rather than by any actual rainfall.

The Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh were also sunnier overall than Edinburgh Gogarbank, but had a completely sunless day at the beginning of the month which wasn't recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

As far as the temperatures are concerned, the average temperature during February was roughly the same at both stations, but it is the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which has the greater temperature anomaly due to the 1981-2010 average being that bit higher at Edinburgh Gogarbank than what it is at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Both stations also had the same number of official air frosts during February but that number was actually closer to the 1981-2010 average at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh than what it was at Edinburgh Gogarbank due to its city centre location.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
