Here the wind is pretty strong and highest so far is only 9.7C despite nice sunshine.
It's a fake mild spell so far.

Getting worse now as it rattles away outside and temperature has barely dropped - still at tedious 9.3C now

A really pointless and worthless spell of weather that is a complete waste of the last few weeks of winter

A completely sunny day means that in the end, a total of 8.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today, the sunniest day of this year so far and the sunniest day of this winter so far.

After such a cold and frosty start to today though, today has ended up being ridiculously warm for so early in the year, especially since we are supposed to still be in our "winter" at the moment.

Today's maximum temperature was 13.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This makes today, our warmest day of the year so far at all three of my local stations, and also the warmest day of this so-called "winter" so far at all three of my local stations.

To make matters even worse as well, it has now clouded over and in addition to that, the wind has also picked up quite a lot to the point where the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank was gusting up to 34.2mph from the SW at 8pm this evening. The result of this is that the temperatures are now refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud and far too much wind around, so there is unlikely to be any repeat of this morning's frosty conditions when I wake up tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 11.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
