More snow arrived here about three hours ago dropping an inch or two of fresh snow.

Yes, there is a decent covering here too but I have not been out to measure it yet.

Just been out to measure and only 4cm but at least it's a proper covering for the first time this winter.

Woke up to a very thin snowcover on most surfaces from last night's snow showers.

Snow showers on and off this morning from the convergence zone. Lovely to see snow falling with blue sky above at the tail end of each shower.

Interesting to see the variation in the city. I have measured the snow and, although it is deeper in a few places, the average accurately measured level depth is between 8 and 9 cm...and it looks gorgeous.

Amazingly, some overnight showers managed to stagger all the way from the N. Norfolk coast and hold it together for long enough to leave my sheltered, low lying, inland location with a slight dusting of snow - this is a truly rare event these days!

Edit: Just watched on the radar another line of showers approach from the NE but as it approached Ely it fragmented and dissipated - this is typical "inverse orographic" effect which plagues this low lying fen location.

Same thing here.

A half mile walk saw varying snow amounts and despite differences in elevation some of the lower parts have just as much as some of the higher parts.

Deepest was 6.5-7 inches at an elevation of around  115m, though the average depth on my walk was about 5 inches. My walk started around 90m above.

It was a similiar view here earlier (after the overnight snow had cleared) but through the day it has become mostly clear and the view out to sea is very nice. It’s always nice to see snow on the beach too

Heavy showers still ongoing here, must be a good 6 inches but it has gone kind of wet through the day

Snow on a beach is certainly a strange sight for me.  Incidentally towers continue to fire up over the sea.

A beautiful day with winter sunshine made brighter by the light reflected off the snow although it's melting quite fast.

For anyone who hasn't found this, the current sat image of the UK clearly shows the current snow in the South.

For me it's imby interesting how the snow begins north of Weymouth over the chalk ridgeway, then there seems to be an area North Dorset heading nw into Somerset and the Bristol Channel/Bridgwater area snow free. Exmoor, Dartmoor, Bodmin seem well covered but have a look.

The Poole/Bournemouth conurbation and coast going east is well marked by the absence of snow. And so on... Pompey snow free zone plus ça change.

Probably the best snow event since Jan 2010, not so much for the depth but for the fact that it was followed by such a beautiful sunny day. Went up to the hills just outside Basingstoke for sledging. 6-7 inches of snow still on the ground, clear blue skies, absolutely gorgeous.
