Well, after about four hours of 'faux snow' the real snow has actually reached ground level and has started falling moderately here in the last 45 minutes.  With the ground being dry, and the temp. at 0.7*C (DP -1.1*C) it is settling readily everywhere, but barely 1cm accumulated yet.  In the last few minutes the intensity has reduced to light, but it looks as though there are areas of heavier snow moving up from the south. I don't think I'll stay up to watch it, so I'll just have to wait until the morning to see the results then.

Heavy snow now and for the last hour. Radar doesn’t show it well. Weather apps are now predicting snow all night here.

Moderate to heavy snow in the last half an hour, blowing around a lot. There's a thin coating out in the back garden, but nowt too significant as yet. Also starting to coat the cars here too.Love it! Hope it lasts!

Just got home, about 3-4cm on the car roof, 2-3cm on the pavements. Snow was quite heavy but has eased off a little now.

Finally started snowing here just north of the Thames. Quite moderate but only just settling as is quite wet. Temp is 1.4C and DP -0.7C but starting to fall. Really not sure what the final outcome will be. Possibly 2-3cm.

Turning into an event here, moderate snow for a couple of hours has left us with about 6cms snow. All roads covered, gritted, but covered, and very icy. temp, about -0.1C and dp -2. Still snowing....👍

It was just getting going around 11.30pm but since then it has stopped completely and the roofs are thawing. Hoping for another spell later if the Met forecast is right.

Blizzard-like conditions now, between 5 and 7 cm of snow. The main roads are now covered with thick snow, looking at the radar I think we will easily get over 10cm.

Temp : 0.4c | DP : -2.1c

Wind : 1.6mph with gusts 3.8mph

A total fail at this coastal edge, as this photo shows.

Despite bouts of heavy snow when it finally came this evening, it was just simply "too warm" and wet for any settling. Like I said earlier, it was to be expected anyway - but it still hurts.

Temps slowly creeping up to 1.8 c and at least the SE wind has died down.

The radar is a total work of fiction, it bears no relation to what is or isn’t falling. Not a flake falling at the moment though the radar has a yellow blob overhead. Earlier it was pelting down when the radar showed next to nothing.

Working late in London heavy snow in Waterloo  not settling then driving home some very heavy snow near Stratford and the snow followed me all the way home to Stortford about 1cm here. Pleasantly surprised as the modelling was mixed for here. It's gone way north. Shows how hard it is to forcast.
