Has anyone switched their heating on yet? Our heating has been off since mid May and I was hoping to keep it off till the end of September. But I think we will be switching it on before the end of this week because of the cool weather.

No not yet. There's a lot of windows on the south side of our house, so it keeps us fairly warm in the autumn. Weather-depending, it probably won't really go on until mid-October or so here.

Reporting from way down south... it's 11.20pm and still 16C outside. We've still got the summer duvet on the bed, hopefully the heating switch on is some time away yet!

Nope not yet, in fact at almost midnight we still have the bedroom windows open a touch.

Hoping to get to Halloween before the need too

We keep our underfloor heating on all year with the thermostats set to about 21C. It has switched on once I think.

Our underfloor heating won’t get switched on for a while yet, but our central heating never gets switched off as I just rely on the thermostat and it hasn’t kicked in yet but it’s still quite mild here. I never close my bedroom window, even in winter and I never have the bedroom radiators on either.  The radiators in the upstairs bathrooms are always the first to get turned on though.

I've switched my central heating on a handful of times this month. I also put a throw over my summer duvet for a couple of nights because my legs and feet felt cold in bed.

I haven't worn shorts or short-sleeve shirts since the very start of the month, and I'm getting the impression that I won't be wearing them again until sometime next year.

The warmest room in our house is the bathroom because we never switch the towel rail off.

No need for central heating yet but watching the cooler forecast for the next couple of days. Sloar hot water heating having to be supplemented as it's been cloudy from time to time.

Came downstairs to make my coffee at 6:30am. My feet got a lovely warm feeling when I walked into the kitchen area!

'Tested' the wood burning stove a few evenings ago - we had two cold nights and a couple of days together with the temp. not getting much above 13 C - October weather! Only have had the wood burner lit for a few hours in the evening once so far this season. I'm 'knocking on' in years too and do feel the chill more these days! No need for heating today, as the sun heating the south-facing living rm up to a pleasant 20 C atm. - the sun still high enough to be above the trees here
