There is a lot of rain and drizzle around just now with very poor visibility which all in all, makes for a very depressing and soul-destroying start to this morning where I wouldn't even blame anyone for not even wanting to get up out of bed this morning as this morning's weather doesn't exactly provide any inspiration for doing so.

This means that whilst it may well be the Glorious 12th according to the calendar, there is certainly, nothing very glorious about this morning's weather as this so-called "summer" continues to go down the toilet pan so not surprisingly, the end result of this is that nothing in the way of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at 8am this morning.

However, a total of 3.6 mm of rain has now fallen during today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at .8am this morning, along with 2.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as an official rain day at both of those stations and since it is still raining as I write, those totals which I have just given for today, are unlikely to be today's final totals.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 13.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so last night was a bit warmer than of late.

With the weather as it is just now though, the temperatures are already refusing to rise and so, the temperature at 8am this morning was 13.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Actually, I quite enjoy Richard's way of reporting these things and so, I don't have any regrets about simply trying to emulate that in my posts. I don't expect every other member to like that way of doing things, but that is how I like to do things and for that reason, I will continue to post in this style from now on (I'm now going to change my style of posting after all, just because one member doesn't happen to like that).

It's not actually the rain which I'm complaining about either since this month has been running quite a lot drier than average here so far and since this has been a dry summer overall, we actually need the rain here just now.

What I am therefore, complaining about is the fact that we have been in yet another permacast hell since yesterday afternoon which with all of the rain that is around, is making it look more like as though we were quite deep into autumn, rather than in late summer.

As at 9am this morning, today's rainfall totals so far are now 4.2 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 3.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. You've been in 'permacast hell' since what, yesterday afternoon!?! So one cloudy afternoon and one cloudy morning deserves the doom-laden term 'permacast hell' now does it? Well after a sunny morning yesterday it quickly clouded over mid afternoon and I haven't seen the sun since. It got particulary dark during the overnight period too, does that count as 'permacast hell'? If you are going to use such emotive terms save it for a week of winter anticyclonic gloom or a week of east coast crud when the rest of the country is enjoying a heatwave, not just a cloudy afternoon & following morning. That is quite ridiculous.

I find his posts tedious on there to be honest and find my eyes glazing over as I read them but at least they are on-topic.

When I first joined this forum back in 2016, I felt that this would be a place where I would feel as though I am at home and there was one or two occasions where a member would actually praise a particular item which I have posted. This forum still has a certain element of that in terms of what other people are posting, but I feel that this forum has now become more of a self-preservation society where only a member's friends will actually be praised for what they are posting, whilst others such as myself, are pulverised and criticised for just about every single thing that they post (of course, it would be a different story if I was actually that member's mate which I'm certainly not). Furthermore, this is really just a south of England centric forum anyway and I'm not convinced that I would be getting met with these same criticisms if I was from somewhere in SE England, rather than from here in Scotland.

That is something which I'm not prepared to put up with for any longer and so for that reason, I can confirm that this will now be my last ever post on this forum as I'm not prepared to stick around in a place where I am just not wanted. In the end, I feel that this will therefore be a much better forum as a result, without my tedious contributions towards it. Now, you might not think that I am being serious here, but you only need to look at what happened after I said that I would have nothing more to do with the World Cup thread over on the sports forum. I stuck to my word with that one, and it will be the same this time as well.

In the meantime, I would just like to take this opportunity to wish all members, all the best in their future endeavours on there, and would just like to say that there are no hard feelings here. Absolute rubbish. If there seems to a lot of people posting from southern England here well that's simply because it's the most densely populated part of the country. And it will surely not have escaped your attention that neither myself nor Caz are from southern England.
