I can see above that for once, Richard is actually happy with the weather in his area which we all know, is something which happens very rarely.
However, I just wish that I could be as happy with our weather here in Edinburgh. This evening wasn't too bad and in the end, a little bit more sunshine came through. Yet in the end, the really abysmal total of just 54 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.
We are now three days into the month and yet so far, we still haven't had a single day with more than 1.5 hours of sunshine. This is a time of year when the days are getting shorter and because of that, this is when we should be getting our highest sunshine totals for this month. Yet, we are getting less sunshine now than what I have seen at certain times during the winter which is absolutely disgusting.
It is noticeable now that it is getting darker at nights and because of that, I have decided to bring my late evening report to this time, instead of doing that after 10pm. The reason why I was doing that at such a late time in the evening was because there was times during the lightest part of the year when there was some recorded sunshine after 9pm in the evening. However, the time of sunset has now become early enough to ensure that this is unlikely to happen again this year, and that is why I am now doing this report at time.
As the days continue to shorten, there will eventually come a time when there will no longer be any recorded sunshine after 8pm as a result. Once that happens, I will then bring these late evening reports back further to 8pm which will then mean that I will reverted to doing these reports at the times in which I normally do them during the winter.
Anyway with all of that out of the way, I can report that although it is still quite warm, it isn't as warm as it was at this time last night and it doesn't feel as muggy either which should be better for getting to sleep tonight.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm was 16.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
