First of all, I would like to inform everyone that I am going to be travelling down to Hawick in the Scottish Borders later on today, to spend some time with my family I will be there for a week until Monday 23 July 2018, and might not be able to start these threads during that period as a result. As a result of that, I would ask any members to be on standby to start this thread themselves during the week ahead if they are logged into this forum on any given day without this thread having yet been started.

Anyway, the weather is back to being overcast once again, and very close and muggy.

A total of 0.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank thanks to the remnants of Hurricane Chris, but with nothing at all at at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where the absolute drought has now entered its 26th day as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 17.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 18.0ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

This is a post which I normally wouldn't be submitting until 8am but since I am going to be travelling down to the Scottish Borders later on, I won't have time to post this at that usual time and so, am doing so just now instead.

I can see that it has been raining during the night although the rain radar maps suggest that this rain should be clearing away to the east fairly soon. As at 6am, this has resulted in 0.8 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

That latter figure is important because this now officially ends the absolute drought at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh in its 26th day which in turn means that Edinburgh as a whole, has finally returned to being a drought-free zone with the drought in the rest of Edinburgh having ended last Friday.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 16.2ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so that it has been another warm and sticky night.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 6am this morning was 16.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 16.8ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There are occasionally bright spells but largely cloudy still.

It is, however, warm with a current temp of 23C, and much more humid than recent weeks with a DP of 16C.

The Met Office forecast has now changed from showing no rain today, to showing thunderstorms all afternoon. I doubt that will happen.

Another fine and sunny day so far, as well as continuing bone dry.

Just a whisker short of 25 C and while humidity is lower at 60%, it still feels positively muggy indoors and outdoors especially with very light winds.

very warm again..

peaked so far today at 28C

more cloud around today and still a sea breeze so some temperature fluctuations are in play.

It has that 30C feel to it kinda day if the cloud stays at bay long enough.

Uncomfortably hot and heavy today in London Town. I would rather be back in the Surrey Hills. It was actually to hot to have my lunch in the sun.

Currently 29C at 1pm, hot and humid, with some cumulus and cirrus drifting about, perhaps signally tomorrow's date with the outside air-conditioning. I suspect the cloud will give us a 31C sort of a day here. A maximum of 23C tomorrow is actually going to feel pretty pleasant at this point 🙂

9am here in New Jersey and it is sunny and 28°C. It looks like being a rather sticky day as the dew point is currently 22°C and there is an NWS heat advisory in force from midday.

With a bit of luck it will result in some impressive storms tomorrow as a cold front moves in.
