Just returning to my post above and looking at the number of days where 30C or more was reached somewhere in the UK.
So far in 2018 we have recorded 16 days at 30C or more.
In 2006 we recorded a total of 18 days with 30C.
The data for 1976 is a little harder to pull together. But a quick exercise this morning reveals that there were at least 22 days at 30C or more in 1976 (there could be more). The way the current model output is shaping up we could well exceed this figure by say 10 August.
