Looks like being a belter of a sunset to come here, with high-based Ac and cirrus banked over clearing skies to the NW. Camera at the ready, if I can tear myself from the match later.

High of 20C today but already down to single figures.

High cloud this morning but mainly sunny afternoon.

Over time, the Sun gradually won out a bit more as the cloud thinned but in the end, a total of just 5.0 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today'a maximum temperature was 17.9ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 18.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 10pm tonight was 13.5ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 14.3ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so tonight is a bit warmer than of late.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

PS: Just noticed a minimum of 9.2 C at 4.30 am on my station. With the 26.1 at 4 pm, that is an unusually impressive diurnal range for my coastal location - but it is the result of being under a north west airflow.

Home location: Folkestone Harbour.
