Reading reached 3.8 at 11am- not a lot lower than the same time yesterday- but then dropped. Cloudier to the north. Bright sunshine here.

Looks like another 5 today. Great run of 5s this month.

Have you got a link p.a.m? Reading maxed at 5.3 so your reading seems right for the coast. It would be interesting for me to see both sources as I'm probably about half way between the two.

I use one of the local private weather stations for the uv. There are number of them but I think most of the others could do with being recalibrate  as they (from memory) are often wildly high.

I think this station is very close to the waterline at the coast as it seldom gets frosts, and temps drop rapidly when sea breezes pick up.

Incidently yesterday's 5.5 was the highest so far this year...

More historical uv data can be found for that station in here...

Thanks for the link.

Only 2.7 in Reading today - but bright here despite cloud, so probably 3+.

I just read back to yesterday's post and was presumptuous: more prolonged sunshine mid afternoon pushed it up to 4.2 at Reading. Struggling a bit today, though.

Reached 4.0 - the weather improved earlier than expected.

4.8 today at Reading- an interruption to the sunshine is clearly visible in the graph between 12 and 2. No such interruption here- intense light. Might have easily been the highest levels.

4.2 today- in Reading. Much lower here as we've barely seen a beam of sunshine.

Hope I'm not premature again but Reading maxed at 3.2 about 1030. Second peak of 2.9 at about midday.

BBC weather forecasting a uv index of 6 for my location and a high of 10c! ...interesting to say the least.

Yes I've just seen that PFCS- well spotted; the first UK 6 of the year and, as you say, an interesting day with a 10C max; might feel like daytime on the moon.
