6.3 yesterday but cloudier today; now, excitingly, 8 forecast for Wednesday on MetO site. Frazzle.

Summer solstice today so that suns going to be strong, particularly with the clean low humidity air we now have.

On a tangential point I expect to see the highest solar power output year to date today. Already generating 3.1gw nationally at 8.30am. Could hit 8gw later.

Quite a few 9s on there, as with last year.

Reading only managed the low 7s yesterday, but Swansea got above 8.

8.7 is a good one for the Forest,Roger; you might pick up a 9 this weekend!

Lots of 9s forecast for the Westcountry tomorrow - makes a mockery of the Met Office's "UV index does not exceed 8 in the UK" text.

Talking of 8s, they go as far north as Dundee... could well be a lot of sunburnt Scots around tomorrow evening!

6.9 on Sunday and only 6.8 yesterday. here I would think it would be higher as we had dry air, brilliantly blue sky and painful sunshine all day.

Wonder if Roger at Ashurst Bridge had anything higher? What about further north- Darren, you said 8 had been forecast far to the north.

Larry- any 9s?

It had, but that seems to have been a "one hit wonder". 7s are still on offer up in central Scotland, though, with 8s for the far south of Scotland in the days ahead.

Meanwhile here are four 9s in a row!

That, and this, might be unprecedented: virtually the whole of Devon under 9s, north to South Molton, and as far west as Blandford in Dorset today.

Still disappointing in Reading despite the low humidities: only 7.0 today and no other 7s of late.

I hadn't been looking as its been 7's and 8's almost everyday for so long now but I did look this morning and saw a 9 for today so I came to check this thread. There where probably 9's that I've missed although even though it forecast 9 for 13:00 today, its now 13:00 and saying 8. I don't like these high UV figures as they scare me and I look silly in hats.

Strangely it has only reached 6.6 today and 6.3 yesterday. Reading and London similar today, sites further north and  west much higher, Belfast nearly 8!
