Looking at the new Paper on how the Moon has kept mantle temps high ( and our dynamo up and running to keep us safe from the universe) due to the gravitational peturbations it causes ( not just the tides eh?) could this 'closest since 1948' Supermoon be wiggling faults allowing movement?

On the subject of the NZ quake(s), the aftershocks are still coming in at a rapid frequency and interestingly at two or theee distinct separate locations.

From my daughter staying in Tokyo. Not the first email one wants to read in the morning = apart from the last bit!
"We were woken up by the earthquake this morning. All ok in Tokyo"

There seems to have a bit of background rumbling in the west coast of S America in recent weeks and I would not be surprised to see a large quake in that region in the coming weeks.
Major earthquake in the North Sea off Scarborough last night.

Didn't feel it though the Glaisdale Seismic station mentioned is only about 6 miles away. It's thought more than £10,000 in 2p pieces fell from little ledges in South Bay amusements. The 2008 Market Raisen quake was much stronger and gave us quite a jolt. Scary at the time as you wondered if it was a really big distant one or a modest one close by - or maybe some kind of explosion on Industrial Teesside to the north. Shaking continued for about a minute which is a long time when you are half considering dashing outside in case it gets worse.
Another series of earthquakes in central Italy, max 5.7. No casualties or serious damage reported, but it must make the inhabitants feel worried.

And now, tragically, the earthquakes are thought to have triggered this avalanche

My tablet keeps on playing little tunes in the middle of the night, presumably to announce another earthquake notification received. My wife is not amused.
A little larger and I may have noticed it.
6.7 magnitude quake hits between Bodrum in Turkey & Kos.
Two people reported killed on Kos, over 100 injured. Injuries reported in Turkey. Large waves hit & flooded parts of the Turkish coast (enough to lift & move cars)

The 8.1 quake off the Mexico west coast has been slow to attract attention. Severe local damage and dozens of people killed - and a shallow earthquake so that the shaking was intensified (and felt in Mexico city hundreds of miles away). Tsunamis of 3 feet already recorded, reports of larger ones may come in once communication re-established.
Sympathy for Mexico, with a simultaneous eartquake in the west and a hurricane in the east!!
Another earthquake hits Mexico. 7.1 this time

OMG, that poor woman sounds so distressed. Terrible.
Bad situation - 200+ deaths and rising, including 20 children killed when school collapsed, which puts the lethality of hurricanes in the shade.
Although the quake was some distance south, I seem to remember from a previous quake that Mexico City is specially vulnerable, because much of it is built on the soft sediments of an old lake floor which allow earthquake waves to amplify.
Another Mexico earthquake @ 6.1

I see the EMSC are reporting a magnitude 7.6 quake in the Iran-Iraq Border region (now reported as 7.2 on USGS) https://www.emsc-csem.org/Earthquake/earthquake.php?id=629693
