It will take a bit of a hit. Currently I estimate the CET to be at 9.05C (compared to Hadley's figure of 9.17C).

The CET drops slightly today to 9.00C exactly. But then falls nearly 0.4C over the following two days to 8.62C by Tuesday. It drops another 0.2C in the following couple of days before levelling off at the end of the month as Friday to Sunday look very mild.

Current estimate is the CET will now come in just under 8.5C but not by much as I expect 8.45C.

We should still end up more than 1.5C above the 1971-2000 mean.

Thanks GW.

So assuming the CET for November is around 8.5 what will we need from December to give us the warmest year on CET record?

I'm going to start talking about this on the Blog this week.

I'm surprised it stayed that high - the CET for MBY (which is normally not too far off the official) has been around 7c over this past week, yet the CET actually went up 0.1c over the last 2 days.

Here are the charts for November. Another very warm month indeed although not as warm as 2011 or 2009. Nevertheless one of the warmest Novembers on record.

Autumn has come in as the third warmest on record, beaten by 2006 and 2011

Annual CET competition - November update

Here are the tables for the penultimate month of the year. Not much movement in the top 10 this month. Darren S holds on to his lead but it has been cut dramatically. So we are in for a very exciting end to the year with just 0.06C separating the top two.

wallaw climbs up to 3rd place, his highest position of the year.

Gusty is the only person to have been inside the top 10 every month this year. His lowest position was 6th in January.

Both Surrey John and AP Snowman have not been below 11th and redmoons has not been below 12th.

It is fairly close from 4th all the way down to 10th so expect some further movement in the final month of the year.

Elsewhere Weathermac is up 5 places to 12th, his highest of the year.

A certain Global Warming is the highest climber this month up 13 places to 17th, also a high for the year. A very poor effort really though to be outside the top 20 all year up to now.

The Professional is the biggest faller down 14 places to 41st.

We lost a couple of people this month but still have over 50 participants as we move into the final month.

I will post up the December predictions shortly.
