Austen seems to have a flabby hat on, pressure gradient to the north of the centre is very flabby, hence the calm conditions here at the moment, chucking it down with rain mind you

It will be wet and windy there now - sudden rain and wind here in the last half hour.

Here right now though there's a spattering of rain but the wind has picked up to a gale and stripping the leaves from trees, but not that bad.

Not the worst for me in storm terms but the forecast here got the timings more or less right to the T.

Still a gale, though, with sunny spells and a leaf stripper event.

Now brilliantly sunny - but it looks as if more active weather is approaching

The rainfall radar shows the low pressure and its spirals of rain spinning anticlockwise perfectly, as it trundles slowly east along The Channel. Well worth a look.

Been relatively still here all morning until recently. The winds promised by the yellow warning here now starting. We're in the yellow area for Boelo, too

Been a dry and very calm morning where I live in Sheffield, with occasional sunshine after early mist and hill fog. Still dry where I live but some slow moving sharp showers a few miles away to the NE. Wind picking up from the WNW. Temp = 12 C.

With the manner in which everything is pivoting around though, we’re never quite getting into that region here in Hawick.

As a result, the rain just keeps on coming down here and now looks set to continue for the rest of the day, thereby making today’s yellow warning a very good call.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Just hit 18mm down here and just started chucking it down again. Still not a breath of wind

As expected it was pretty blowy last night given it was an in-your-face onshore southerly straight in from the sea but we have had worse and has now - as expected - abated this morning and I'll be relatively sheltered from this afternoon back edge north west wind anyway.

Also had some rain where it has come to 13.6 mm so far today (16 mm yesterday from a previous weather system and  pre-Austen showers in evening). Good for the garden.

Around 2 inches from the storm. Winds nothing unusual for the time of year but still gusting 40-50mph
