I'm with Jiries - cool this morning but enough heat stored by the house to be going on with until today's sunshine warms it through.

Feels slightly cool this morning but I hope not to fire the heat pump up for another couple of weeks. Main downstairs thermostat says 20.5, the one in the office is 17.5C but is mounted on an external wall and I think reads quite low.

We've recently switched to an EV tariff which has cheaper off peak energy but quite a bit higher in the daytime, so I need to experiment whether cranking up the UFH in cheap rate will keep the house warm during the day without using up too much peak energy.

Also looking at battery storage as a way to keep costs down.

Edit: haha, this *is* last year's thread. And yes, looks like it was about mid October, with the first fire in mid November.

Ours was on briefly this morning but only because the engineer was here doing the annual service and he asked me to click it on via the thermostat. It came on at about 18c but that's well above the 15c I leave it at. If it clicks on at that level I turn it up as required to keep it on during the day. The house still has some residual warmth despite it being lower than 5c outside earlier this morning. Also, plenty of free heating still available on a day like today when the sun geats round the back where there is plenty of glazing.

I am fortunate that my wife doesn't feel the cold and my younger daughter, who used to complain the most about the cold, has moved out so she now has the joy of paying her own bills!

It will be interesting to see how my son fares as he returned earlier in the year after 3 years in Australia. So far he has only experience the exceptionally warm summer and early autumn here

I shall have to get the log basket filled ready for when we use the log burner again. That's something I really look forward to at this time of year

Amazing that the conservatory now reaching at 30.7C from 7.4C this morning with peaking soon at 2.30pm.   Still very sunny so helping to warm the house up nicely to 26.6c living room, other rooms 24-25 and my bedroom 21.3C was it was down to 19.8C this morning.  Really hope to keep heating off as long as possible to end of the month or November 1st if possible.

Still happily sitting at my desk in a T-shirt but I did have to go and hunt for my slippers as my feet were feeling the chill. No heating on yet but might have to stick it on overnight at the weekend to avoid teenage complaints...

We’ve had a couple of chilly mornings in low single figures but our heating hasn’t kicked in yet and the temp indoors is still 20.5c, at 7am, due to residual heat from yesterday’s sunshine.  We’re very well insulated and we get warming from the sun in the morning through east facing bifolds and the lantern skylight until mid afternoon.

Still warm inside and today another warm 30.8C after overnight low 8.1C in the conservatory considering now nearly mid October still fighing to get to 30C so late.  Living room 25 and other rooms 21 to 24c so no heating need,  Still using summer thin quilt so late this year, used to change them in mid to late September.  Also being helped with lot of sunshine this month which I think now on par what I got in September totals.  Likely no heating need for up to another 10 days.

I can confirm that it's still shorts and t-shirts weather here in South Wales. We haven't had the heating on yet but i think it's not too far of lighting the log burner of an evening time.
