A wonderful pink and grey sunrise this morning, but the clouds have cleared and it's now sunny. It's much less warm than of late and feels very pleasant outside (the house still has some lingering warmth/humidity).

15.3, dew 13.5; last night's low was 13.6 and yesterday's high was 24.5.

After yesterday's deluge, the cooler, clear northerly has arrived. Sunny and fresh at 08:20. It's 11.8 C. I'm expecting a cold couple of nights coming up in my frost hollow!

Having arrived home from York having witnessed rain like I'd not seen down here in what seems like years I found that there had been no measurable rain since I was away <0.3mm. Today was the first day for a month with a maximum below 25C having been 30 concecutive days above 25C. It was still a respectable 24C which in any normal summer would have been very pleasant!

That isn't exactly the least bit warm for this time of the year, but those maximum temperatures aren't actually any worse than what they were yesterday.

There was some showers around with the odd heavier one, but this produced nowhere near as much in the way of any actual recorded rainfall as yesterday, and didn't even produce enough in the way of any recorded rainfall today which was actually worth reporting on here.

In addition to that, today was also sunnier than yesterday with a total of 5.6 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank, so I would say that it actually wasn't too bad a day here overall. It felt nice to not feel all hot and sweaty for a change whilst I was out and about this morning, and it also didn't rain at any time when I was out and about today.

As I write, it's currently a nice and fresh 11°C here in Edinburgh.

I'm hoping for a colder-than-average day today - a very rare commodity these days!

It's cloudy here this morning, 15.0, dew 13.4, following a low of 14.7. Yesterday's high was 24.5, a rather warm day again.

There was 3.4mm of rain yesterday, the heavier stuff having passed tantalisingly close to the north through the afternoon. The way the local media's carrying on this morning you'd have assumed all of Kent had had a deluge, but in reality only a few areas had the heavy stuff.

13.2C, sunny locally, some cloud to the southwest.

Echoing Darren's comment about the local nature of the rain; flash floods reported in Rottingdean (Brighton) yesterday but bone dry in Chichester. And ironically, after weeks of drought, the first rain caused 19 hours of sewage overflow discharged into the sea at Eastbourne.

It maxed out at 22.9 here, pretty much bang on average for late August. It says something that it still manages to get that warm even with a modified arctic air mass over us! 850s are about 3C below average this afternoon.

No rain today, and though there's some moving over Norfolk I'm sure it'll fizzle by the time it reaches here.

EDIT: And I see Shoeburyness maxed out at 23.1 earlier. Typical that I'm in one of the warmest parts of the UK - is a cooler than average day too much to ask? 😁

So after a dry night it's now 13.4, dew 11.6, which is the low so far.
