Dew point is still rather high with one local station recording a DP of 21.5C not long ago. Thorney official site DP 19C.

Regular days over 25C I regard as warm to hot. My forecasts are still showing 26s and 27s after this. 🙂🙂🙂

Interesting and with an easterly breeze which I thought would cause the opposite effect. What's the highest temperature you've ever recorded Darren?

TBF the wind vane is spinning all over the place! I think the wind is funnelled a bit by the trees and bushes to the south. 

The highest was 39.1 in 2022 - the first time I experienced proper "hairdryer" heat here. I had the same station then (VP2 with fan).

Really disappointed to see that Cardiff Bute Park has been discounted due to the equipment not being up to standard. That's a really old site and should be monitored properly.

True but it is good to see the Met are taking these things seriously. They have come in for a lot of criticism about their site standards recently. I wonder whether they will actually address the issues or just quietly drop the site?

I wasn't sure what the record was. Also I thought today made it 31 days of 30C or over. So we're damned close to breaking that record and potentially by a mile and some.  🙂🙂🙂🙂

And means that all three (meteorological) summer months have now recorded 100ºF. Something that would have been unthinkable 25 years ago - or even 10 years ago really, when we had only ever recorded that one freak 100.

And yes Gavin, today is day 31 over 30C (record is 34 in 1995), day 18 over 32C (record is 19 in 1995), day 10 over 34C (previous record was 7 in 1976 and 2020) and day 7 over 35C (previous record was 5 in 1976 and 2020). We've also had three days over 36C, which equals the record in 1990, 2003 and 2020.

...and that means we've had effectively a whole month of 30s, and we're not even through the second month of summer yet! Bonkers.

What about summer 1995, 2003, 2006, 2018 that gave north some good summer at times?  I remember seeing on the old BBC weather map there never been a huge difference for whole 3 months it been doing this year.  It happen from time to time but not like this. 

Got to 32.2C here today so GFS was correct for this area and the app undercooked by 3C.  Conservatory got up to 44.1C for a short time after 2pm.

Even my brief foray as far north as North Yorkshire at the weekend was quite an eye-opener. First time I've had to wear a jumper in a very long time!

We've also now had 30 consecutive days with a UK max above 25C. If it wasn't for that one annoying 24.9C maximum on June 29, it would be 44 days. July seems sure to be the first ever calendar month, as far as I know, to reach 25C every single day. And fairly likely to reach 26C every day too, although UKV is a bit twitchy for Friday.

That's good, shows my measurement probably pretty good at 34.6C as Writtle is just 10 miles North of here.

Also pair that with zero rainfall in most of England!
