Today's maximum temperatures in Edinburgh were 19.05°C at Gogarbank, 19°C at the airport, 19.95°C at the botanic gardens and 18.2°C at Swanston.

This makes today only the first day since 14 July 2026 in which the temperature has failed to reach 20°C anywhere in Edinburgh, thus ending a run of 13 days in a row in which 20+°C maximums were always being recorded at Gogarbank and/or the botanic gardens.

This is a run which started at Gogarbank at a time when the botanic gardens was in a run of a whole week without any 20+°C maximums due to cooler winds coming in from off the North Sea. After that though, the botanic gardens then joined the party with a run of 9 20+°C maximums in a row being recorded there. Towards the end of that runs, it was the botanic gardens which kept that run going as that run at Gogarbank was ended and even today, we weren't all that far away from seeing the run continuing at the botanic gardens.

Sadly, I can't give a Similar update for here in the Borders just now as there has been no data from Charterhall since 6pm BST (17:00 UTC) this evening.

Here in Hawick, we had a further drizzly shower in the latter part of this afternoon and it continues to be mostly cloudy here with just the odd sunny intervals.

Currently around 18°C here.

Max today of 27.5c.

Albeit not as hot as previously (and officially not hitting heatwave threshold) it's a remarkable run with 6 of the last 8 days being either 27.4 or 27.5c, the other 2 were 29s.

It's like it's the new norm down here. 35 days without rain is not normal in anyone's books.

A blustery day up here, gusting to 35mph with the odd drizzly shower and warm sunny spells.

John will be pleased to know that 20 C was reached at Swanston before 10am! The maximum there is now 21.3 C

There was some overnight rain down here which cleared away quite early in the day to leave us with some cloud and increasing amounts of sunshine.

I can see that the winds at Edinburgh Gogarbank have been gusting up to around 35 mph from the WSW whereas down here, it's not been quite as windy as that with the gusts only getting up to around 31 mph from the SSW at Charterhall.

Currently around 20°C down here (my Apple Watch and the data from Charterhall are both in full agreement with that).

Was 28c when I got home 30 mins ago and mostly cloudy. The sun just came out and within minutes it is now 30.3c. Slightly unexpected, didn't think we would get there today to be honest.

Humidity here is only 44%, DP is 17c.

Quite odd weather here in Leeds. Very dark with no wind and very humid and warm. Feels just like a storm is coming, but we all know it isn't. It's around 25C but oppressive rather than pleasant.

Today's maximum temperatures in Edinburgh were 23.72°C at Gogarbank, around 24°C at the airport, 25.12°C at the botanic gardens and 23.9°C at Swanston.

Here in the Borders, today's maximum temperature at Charterhall was 25.81°C.

Two more days of these sorts of temperatures and first official heatwave since 2022 would then be recorded at the botanic gardens and at Charterhall (it's possible though, that at least one official heatwave might have been recorded at Charterhall since then, but I would need to check that).

From the latest radar maps, I can see that there's been some rain in Edinburgh during this evening but as per usual, with absolutely nothing where I am. I have no doubt though that this part of the world will start to experience plenty of interesting weather once I return home next Monday with Edinburgh no longer getting any interesting weather after that, because that is just my luck.

Current temperatures as I write are 19.7°C at Charterhall, 16.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, around 18°C at Edinburgh Airport, 16.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and 16.6°C at Swanston.

Sunny and calm, with a dew on the grass - the traditional marker of a very hot and humid day in summer here!

16.5, dew 15.2, following an overnight low of 14.3 (which explains the dew on the grass). Yesterday's high was 29.6, another hot day.

There hasn’t even been any overnight rain here this time and it continues to remain bone dry here as per usual.

As I have been saying all along, I should really just ignore what the weather is like elsewhere and any forecasts which suggest that it might rain here because it is clear that our weather is just not going to change one single bit here during the rest of my time down here.
