I'm sure today wasn't supposed to be as warm as it was, a max of 27.5c, feeling very pleasant with a DP max of 10.3c - a diurnal range of 20.4c which is certainly high for the middle of summer

We had a DP low of 4.4c, remarkable for this time of year

Yes the 3rd warmest day of the month in Edinburgh at just under 25 C and another very warm day forecast for tomorrow 😎

Yet, there continues to be no signs of any proper cooldown or any properly unsettled weather within the more reliable time frame and that never used to be the case with such a change in the synoptic pattern.

Here in Hawick, this morning has started off on a rather cloudy note which is rather surprising given that today is forecast to be warmer than yesterday once again, although I’m sure that the Sun will be out again before too long as it always is.

Currently around 12°C

Here in Hawick, there’s still a lot of cloud around with occasional sunny spells and similar temperatures.

Another warm day here but obviously compared to recent weeks it felt very pleasant. A little sultry but only due to the lack of wind rather than humidity, the high is 27.5c, currently 25.4c so perfect for a bbq on the west-facing patio.

Mostly cloudy here, aside from over lunchtime. 20.6, dew 14.9, and feeling very pleasant indeed. The high was just 21, so another 80s-style summer day, the fourth in a row to be below the 91-20 average (of 23). How I miss them...

I've been sleeping like a log these past few days, the sort of deep sleep I just can't get when it's hot. Looking at the GFS (which has a run of hot weather from Friday onwards) I think I'll have to make the most of it!

Today's maximum temperatures in Edinburgh were 24.83°C at Gogarbank and 24.76°C at the botanic gardens where today was slightly warmer than yesterday yet again (today's temperatures at Gogarbank were similar to yesterday).

Had these temperatures over both of the last two days been just 1-2°C higher than what they actually were, we would have been looking at yet another chance for an official heatwave to be recorded in Edinburgh tomorrow, so we once again haven't been all that far away from that.

With all of the cloud cover, a total of only 4.7 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening but even with that, a total of only at least 15.5 hours of sunshine needs to be recorded between now and the end of this month in order for this month to go down as being sunnier than average and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if those conditions were met in the next couple of days or so.

Here in Hawick, we have seen increasing amounts of sunshine over the course of this afternoon and evening although there is still cloud around.

Currently around 20°C here.
