Ditto, 29.2 here. The wind has gone from SW'ly to NW'ly (very light) and hopefully that means a NE'ly will be coming along soon... I can but hope!

EDIT - it peaked at 30.3 and it's now 29.5 and falling, with a NNE'ly. 

Currently 29C and a little more humid than of late.

Met office have another 6 more days after today of 29/30C for us. 

Date record for today is 32.7C set in 2010, which looks like being demolished.

At this rate, we might not even need any North Sea influence in order to scupper our chances of an official heatwave because that could easily end up happening as early as today just as a result of there being too much cloud and/or too much wind around which are those same things which all too often, scupper our chances in the winter of getting a frost.

That is why it would have been better if we could have got rid of that wind and cloud cover altogether.

At the botanic gardens, everything is still well on course with a current temperature of 24.9°C as I write but the temperature at Gogarbank is currently stuck at around 23°C and has barely budged at all from that over the last couple of hours.

However, Swanston is still on course at the moment with a current temperature of 24.6°C.

These temperatures are currently 25.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 25°C at Edinburgh Airport, 25.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and 25.4°C at Swanston.

This means that if similar temperatures are recorded here tomorrow, an official heatwave will be recorded here in Edinburgh and there's still a chance with all of this, that today could actually end up being slightly hotter than yesterday.

The Met Office are still not quite going for that heatwave to be confirmed tomorrow as their prediction for tomorrow is only around 24°C but that might well depend on how quickly any North Sea influence kicks in and at the moment, this is something which could go either way.

EDIT:

If anyone knows why too much wind from the SW in these parts always scuppers our chances of a frost in winter but never seems to stop the temperatures from rising in the summer (as we've seen here), I would be more than happy to learn about those reasons here.

The live data page for that station which I can view here  shows a maximum of 26.4°C as recorded at 3:35pm BST (14:35 UTC) but the same page shows that the temperature there has now dropped back to 25.3°C and since that isn't a main Met Office SYNOP station, a maximum of 27°C or above for there seems unlikely.

Nevertheless, I have compared that with the collected data at that station's website and from there, I can see that Swanston has had its second hottest day of this month so far today and its third hottest day of this year so far.

As with the other main stations here in Edinburgh, an official heatwave will be recorded at Swanston if tomorrow's maximum temperature for there either reaches or exceeds 25°C.

As at 6:40pm BST (17:40 UTC) this evening, a total of 10.6 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far which is enough for today to go down as our sunniest day of this month so far, though not by as much as I would have hoped for given the current synoptic setup.

Currently a very warm 23°C here in Edinburgh

Yes. Well historically very much so but seems the new normal now. Bramham was 33c officially, which before the last couple of years would probably be one of the hottest days ever. 

Low 16.3c, now 16.5c.  

20.0, dew 18.7, clear and calm. The overnight low was 19.3 and yesterday's high was 30.3, the fourth 30+ day in a row.

Last night's overnight temperature was 13.43°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14.31°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and 14.7°C at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh.

The big question which is being asked today is whether or not, the onset of any North Sea influence later on can be delayed for long enough to allow an official heatwave to be recorded here in Edinburgh (that will happen of course, if today's maximum temperature reaches or exceeds 25°C). For now, the Met Office are still saying no to that by going for a maximum of only 23°C but you just never know, and we can only really wait and see what actually happens with that.

As John says, the North Sea could scupper that today

However, I have just looked at Weatherobs.com and I'm now starting to see those dreaded letters, "ENE" appear in the wind direction column for Edinburgh Gogarbank which is always the first indication that the North Sea effect is starting to come into play.

That will usually continue with the botanic gardens and Edinburgh Airport cooling down to below the temperatures at the other Edinburgh stations even before I actually start to feel the effect of that North Sea effect.

For now, the temperature even at the botanic gardens is around 21°C but that is already slightly cooler than further inland and that gap will only grow wider as the North Sea effect continues to come more  into play. Usually, I will then start to feel the effect of that at some point in time and once that happens, I'm sure that it will then only be a matter of time before we eventually start to see some easterly much coming in from off the North Sea which might well impact today's sunshine totals later on.
