Temperature dropping here now from 22.8 C two hours ago to 21.7 C at Noon with the arrival of the dreaded summer NE wind. Very unwelcome

Haar will not be far behind and a cool, dull weekend to come 😩

Much more bearable today, and not just for me - for the first time this week my pup wanted to play "tug" in the garden. (On previous days when he's gone outside he's trotted straight back to the patio doors, waiting expectantly).

24.8, dew 20.1, with an occasional breeze from the ENE. (And sunny, of course, but that goes without saying)

Even at Swanston, the temperature is back to 22.3°C so I still wouldn't completely rule out that official heatwave from being recorded just yet.

Dramatic temperature drop at Hawarden, from 28.9C at 1pm to 0.2C at 2pm. Or perhaps there is a technical fault 🙂

It's actually not been too bad here - the promised NE'ly has made it feel much more pleasant than of late, and the house should gradually cool down over the next few days. The high was "just" 24.9 today!

23 C the Max in Edinburgh so still no official heatwave.

A refreshing NE wind now, house is feeling cooler (only got to 23 C indoors yesterday)

I suspect it'll be jeans and a jumper for the weekend here

There is a bit more of a breeze now though so in the shade it doesn't feel too bad.

A lot of medium level instability now to the west with some towers developing. There have already been thundery showers in Lancashire, western Borders and around The Great Glen

The evil haar has arrived from the NE, slinking in under the medium level development from the SW. The haar has dropped the temperature instantly to 16 C....it's vile stuff!

Today's maximum temperature was 23.55°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 21.65°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so no heatwave here in Edinburgh on this occasion and today was a bit cooler than of late in the end.

However, today was our sunniest day of this summer so far, and could even end up being our sunniest day of this year so far as a total of 13.7 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 7:40pm BST (18:40 UTC) this evening.

However, there is quite a lot of cloud to my north now with bits and pieces of easterly muck now starting to drift in from off the North Sea which have already caused the top of Arthur's Seat to disappear into it in the distance.

In addition to that, this evening is a bit cooler than of late with a temperature of around 17°C here in Edinburgh.
