29.8C here at 1100 (thermometer on a north-facing wall) - it was only supposed to reach 25C.

Even if my thermometer is non-standard, there were 25-27C readings around Sussex/Surrey at 0900 on weatherobs.com. I wonder (and hope) that something cooler will arrive - 19C at Portland at that time.

I'm not sure whether we've picked it up or it's picked us up. From the link:

This criterion [20C] used to be infrequently met, with the 30 years between 1961 and 1990 seeing 44 tropical nights, most of them associated with the hot summers of 1976 and 1983. From 1991 to 11 August 2020, 84 such nights were recorded, with 21 of them occurring since 2008. 

The hottest night on record was set in the early hours of 19 July 2022 at Shirburn Model Farm, Oxfordshire, not falling below 26.8 °C.

Spain has moved from recording 'noche tropica' to 'noche torrida' [25C] to 'noche infernal' [30C]

Having a garden party today , definitely would have taken today's forecast a few weeks ago.  24c now with a nice breeze and perhaps as high of 29-30c , and warm well into the evening.  Hoping no showers

I wonder if July, then August and possible September to break all the records so that 5 months in the row to break records? Interesting if this happen.  Just a pity this month failed to reach 100F and I think we had a chance but the storms on Monday night had altered the high temperatures forecast but still a good heatwave.

Did a parkrun this morning and it still felt very warm and steamy. Down to a relatively fresh 23C by Monday but then the phone app has us back to 31C by day 10.

30.1c already, thankfully there's a sturdy breeze which is kind of helping to keep it a bit more bearable today. 

I'm looking forward to tomorrows 26c but even more so Tuesdays 23c, and it seems my area is now Amber warned for Sunday too. It's really challenging, this heat, so we've more fans coming, courtesy of work, which should mean the work room and PC room can be a lot more comfortable to be in, once they arrive and we won't have to keep moving our current fans around so much.

I thought we were too far west for anything really hot today- thought maybe a 26 with just about 15° 850s but outside the warning zone.Reached 29 before the solar zenith.

It's surprising that 1995 is never really talked about in terms of classic summers. July and August were very hot and dry months, but never managed the really long runs of 30C+ as there were odd cooler days mixed in (albeit still mostly high 20s).

Did anyone notice recent ads showing new Ac unit being small as a toaster size and to cool the room fast but i notice no output pipe or anything?  I just see this lately since the heatwave arrive and also appear last month heatwave too.  I wonder if this true or a scam?  Retron should see those ads too.

Mind you, today is another day where proper aircon would be nice. It's cloudy now as rain moves up from the south, but a sultry 26.3, dew 21.9. The humidity in this hot spell is really quite remarkable - there are no official dewpoint records in the UK AFAIK, but with widespread 20s and up these past few days - I'd wager it's the most humid heatwave we've had in our lifetimes!

My portable aircon really struggled last night, as an aside, so I think the time for split a/c is getting ever closer. Much though I don't want to do it, I think I'll start getting quotes over the winter (which is always a good time to buy a/c stuff!)

Missed out on a 7th 30c+ day, maxed at 29.8c here. More humid than yesterday but still a reasonable breeze, 24.9c now

My recent records have a best of 11 30c+ days in a year, up to 10 so far.
