After today's warmth, even with a (somewhat) cooler Saturday, I reckon 15-15.1 after Saturday and plausibly 16 after Thursday.

Models mostly hold on to heat until Saturday 27th, so maybe 16.3 - 16.5 after that, depending on intensity and distribution of heat across the three stations.

Might not reach the dizzy heights of 2023 or 2025 to finish, but could make upper 16s. Not bad after yet another cold start.

Incidentally, as of yesterday, the CET mean maximum was still 0.1C below the CET max for May.

Just did a quick calculation based on MetO forecast maxima and minima for Pershore, Rothamsted and Stonyhurst for the 7 days including today. Bear in mind these are 'likely' maxima and minima, at the time of forecasting, so both could be more extreme than actually happens, but since they're working in different directions for the mean, it may give a fair indication. Of course things could be warmer or cooler generally also. But for the week across the 3 stations I make it 19.4°C, tempered bu a cold 13.5 tomorrow at the Lancashire station.

14.5 x 18 (to yesterday) gives 261, plus (7 x 19.4) i.e 135.8 = 396.8 ÷ 25 =15.9 rounded. The BBC* suggests slightly higher daily figures which  gives a CET to 25th of 16.0 rounded. Impressive consistency between them really

With 5 remaining days expected to stay warm overall it will be easy to pass 16 based on these figures but they'd need to average 20 each day to get a CET of 16.7. Doesn't seem likely unless the thermometer goes loopy or heat extends north. I'm punting for 16.3 or 16.4. Others' thoughts?

* Used nearest towns for Roth and St.

I think an average of 20.6°C for the last ten days could give us a 17. With a cool-down potentially starting Friday, that could be a tough shout.

Yesterday was second consecutive day with an average CET above 24°C. The hot Junes of 2025 and 2023, and the hot spell of June 2018, didn't get near. 1976 appears to be the last time it happened.

Looks like yesterday might have managed a 25. Not many of those in the history books.

CET mtd in the range 16.7-16.8 expected.

Also on weatherobs.com looks like the 3 stations are currently averaging a daytime higher than any so far (about 32.8) which may not be maximum- amazing considering 2 stations are in the west. Will the CET be second only to 19.7.2022?

That's already a record for the whole daily CET history and today might make that 4 days in a row

So, like last June, a low start belying a very high finish, following a record spring. I'm not exactly superstitious but it is an interesting coincidence.

17 fairly sure, considering a hot Saturday too, or are there too many cooler days at the end to threaten this?
