One thing that I don't think has been mentioned is that the heatwave occuring at the summer solsdist as opposed to late july and especially August means the warmest part of the day is likely slightly later since the heating potential is greater for the same time of day.

Yesterday we saw highest temperatures between 5pm and 6pm, we likely will see something similar today.

Nevertheless with only 33C being reached in a few spots at 12pm, I think 38C is now a long shot. I think somewhere may just about hit 37C today.

33.4c the high so far, a smidge above same time yesterday, having been lagging behind all morning.

Still no tropical night, last night, 19.6c was the min, maybe tonight?!?

I think I flagged it up either here or on Signal on Tuesday as a possibility, albeit a relatively low one as it seemed at the time.

A real swath of 34C now is S/SW England. Dorset / Somerset is really look like a core heat zone. I think we will be the June record today, Set yesterday lol

Levelling off here at about 33, so probably 2 or 3C cooler than yesterday in the end. Further west could still beat yesterday's mark but in this area I think the heatwave peaked yesterday.

Re Jersey no it doesn't count in UK records as far as the Met Office is concerned although TORRO does seem to count it in date records. Jersey has of course already been hotter than the UK, with 37.2 on Tuesday, which was the 2nd hottest ever for the island. Today looks like taking first place from the 37.9C in 2022.

32.8C at Pembrey. Must be absolutely baking on the beach there. I was there during a hot spell last August and the shallow sea coming in over the sand was the warmest I have ever felt in the UK.

Thankfully humidity not as high with a fair breeze so it's bearable in the shade, unlike past two days.
