I don't think the Met Office keeps heat index statistics, but if they did I'd guess this week would be smashing all time records.

Fleet PWS: 35.7, dp 23.0. Heat index 41.5C as of 2pm.

34.7 at Bournemouth and Thorney Island.

35.1 at Southampton Oceanographic Centre which I think is still official?

34.7C here at 2pm so keep an eye on Writtle. I potentially get a mini-fohn effect as I am at the low point of a large hill which is on the leeward side of the drift today. (Only 385 ft but pretty much the highest point between here and the north pole in a straight line!)

33.4c here. Feels like it’s flattened a bit in terms of the rate of rise, but it did this yesterday and then there was another spurt mid to late afternoon

Didn’t seem too bad this morning but in the last few hours the humidity has increased and the current temperature is 29.1c. The breeze has also gone.. my broadband is down as well due to overheating of the system? Really!

Only 30 C in Sheffield now (14.30 hrs bst) after an early rapid rise in temps; 27 C at 10 am (bst). It seems to have flattened out. Dew point is 13 C, yet it feels very oppressive, cf, the 39 C recorded on 19 July 2022!

The temperature has stalled here as well. In fact, it's cooler than yesterday. The high so far is 26.9°C, massively down on the original forecast of 32/33°C. Either it's the sea breeze, or the models have massively overcooked temperatures for parts of Northern England...

I was thinking maybe not today there is still residual moisture, so I wonder if a delayed max and more steady warming that the typcal slowdown we see around this time.

At least we have a cooling breeze here which is preventing the temp from rising beyond 33c

Next week is going to be a huge shock though.  Just as Wimbledon starts, so it will turn wet and cool and the pattern looks locked in for some time

All those who rushed out to buy air con units maybe regretting it!

Wouldn't be so sure about the June record either - Southampton just 0.5C short of it at 2pm. Amazing if it was Southampton that broke it again! If the old Mayflower Park station was still going it might already have done so...

Although actually I just checked and the Southampton site is not an official Met Office one.

I think we will get the June record, but I think the forecast (which was also long shot) of 37C according to the MetOffice will be off.
