It is looking like Kent may escape the extreme “headline-making” temperatures in the next three days, joys of our county being a peninsular landmass being surrounded by sea water at three points of the compass and an easterly breeze. Still be rather uncomfortably hot and humid anyway.

Currently holding steady at 25.5 C at 10.45 am, but still was hideously swampy last night where overnight temperature didn't get any lower than 23.3 C at 4.15 am.

Home location: Folkestone Harbour.

PWSs in my area on the WOW site are now mostly showing 31-32 with a few 33s and even 34s. South coast similar or even marginally hotter.

Currently 33.3c with a DP of 22.7c. It is awful. We live in a bowl, with Castle Hill to our east and Bidborough ridge to our south.

32.1C on the local PWS. Highest official 11am reading looks like 31.6C at Thorney Island.

July 2022 had 37.3C by 11am...

I know the Isle of Portland well it's so exposed. To be over 30c at 10am must be a first for that location.

I presume we have a northerly drift which is allowing these coastal sites to get so hot.

Fleet PWS now 32.9C with a heat index of 38.0C. Blackbushe, up the hill, at 30.2C.

My heat pump outdoor sensor is currently reading 40C but it does get some sunlight catching it in the late morning.

Quite a few 34s and 35s on the WOW site now, discounting the wild outliers.

Stifling here. 29.2, but the dewpoint is a whopping 24.1! The ground is still damp in shaded areas in my garden and it'll doubtless be adding extra moisture to my weather station.

No wind whatsoever, which is disappointing.

The all-time records from that local PWS show the effect of the humidity today - the highest temperature it recorded was 37.4C in 2022 but the "feels like" was only 38.8C.

The "feels like" is already 36.7C with a temp of 33.2C.

In a bit of a twist the UKV has Friday as the hottest day, albeit in E Anglia.

Nevertheless 38C is up for grabs today, while 39C-40C are still on the cards for Thursday and now possibly Friday.
