Crazy temps for coastal sites

Overnight low 21.8C
Thorney Island leading the way at 10am with 30.3C - pretty much in the hottest zone on the high-res models. Isle of Portland just behind on 30.2C. Amazing to have these coastal locations as the hottest spots!

I presume we have a northerly drift which is allowing these coastal sites to get so hot.

Normally, you'd visit Portland to get away from the heat!

Likely smash that record today
Currently holding steady at 25.5 C at 10.45 am, but still was hideously swampy last night where overnight temperature didn't get any lower than 23.3 C at 4.15 am.
It is looking like Kent may escape the extreme “headline-making” temperatures in the next three days, joys of our county being a peninsular landmass being surrounded by sea water at three points of the compass and an easterly breeze. Still be rather uncomfortably hot and humid anyway.

PWSs in my area on the WOW site are now mostly showing 31-32 with a few 33s and even 34s. South coast similar or even marginally hotter.
The temperature is absolutely rocketing here. 25.5c at 9am is extraordinary

Friday now has an Amber warning for heat, further east but still a big chunk of England
Saturday as well now. Currently just hit 34c
July 2022 had 37.3C by 11am...
Here's a pic of the Island on a cooler day. Note the pollution from the Ocean Liner.
A fair number of yachts and other vessels out and about today, not in the photo though.
