The old saying goes along the lines of 'anything suffering from wind flop give it the Chelsea chop' or something like that. 

You can't do that to foxgloves and expect a second flush for this year. Though after flowering but before they set seed en mass, the stem chop encourages them to have another go the following year from the same plant.

My new back gate with its wind filtering (hit and miss) abilities makes a notable difference outside the office.

Probably not. In the zunsheen of our zummers it's hard to remember the recent drought. But my new gate is a good investment, especially on days like today, where previously the wind went over the top and eddied outside, blowing over plants.
