For me, it's warm enough as it is here even without the heat and if was any warmer here, I would be absolutely sweltering here in my little flat in NW Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Kew and Heathrow both over a degree from where they were this time yesterday. I'm feeling confident that over the next few days things will be on the upper end of the models.

31.8C here yesterday. What was the max recorded officially?

A degree or so cooler at the same time today.

One of the more remarkable things over the past 15 or so years is the inexorable rise in dewpoints. I see Southend is reporting 18C, Manston 17C, as is Thorney Island. Further inland dewpoints are a fair bit lower.

17 or 18 dewpoints *used* to only be seen in the moistest of Spanish plumes at the height of summer, late July to mid August. It's incredibly rare to see them this time of year, as the sea is still relatively cold (12-14C around the south and SE at the moment) and that *usually* has the effect of depressing air temperatures and causing coastal fog if very moist air arrives via the sea. This year it hasn't...

Today's highest temps likely to be towards the South Coast though sparsity of stations in the right locations may mean we don't see the highest temps reflected in the official results.

Herstmonceux and Wiggonholt would be ones to watch along with Charlwood.

That said, Heathrow is 29.4c at 1pm and currently leading the pack.

I think we'll max out at 31.5c or thereabouts.

3.5C cooler today with max of 27.9C. I suspect my 31.8C yesterday was accurate given my Stevenson Screen usually is and I am in the driest spot most likely in the whole Country.

Arpege 12z goes for full on meltdown.

36c the high tomorrow with Tuesday at 37c and widespread 35 - 36c across a large swathe of England.

The temperature at midnight on Monday in Cambridge is still at 28c!

Overnight lows in some places holding up at 25c - that would threaten the all time record.

Quite extraordinary.

Even the MetO text forecast underplays the severity of the heat IMO, unchanged from this morning:

Monday:

A fine and dry day, with bright sunshine and light variable winds. Feeling hot, though temperatures could be a degree or two cooler along the coast in any sea breezes. Maximum temperature 34 °C.

Given that the MetO raw has 32 tomorrow and 34 on Tuesday in Leysdown (with an onshore breeze too) I wonder what they'll say tomorrow...

Mind you, we dodged the heat perfectly here today. The high was 21.8 and there's been a pleasant light sea breeze throughout. The MetO raw had 25 or 26 (varied through the day) and that was way off. No complaints here, a decent night's sleep beckons... unlike the next couple of nights!

Leysdown, north Kent
