2 C now with moderate sleet and the odd flake of snow. Looking up Blackford Hill with binoculars I can see big wet flakes falling up there at 160m

Here are the conditions higher up above 250m

9.3C. The main difference to much of this year so far is that the recent overnight and morning rain is replaced by sunny spells.  Oh, and a light westerly breeze. The radar shows a gap between what I assume is the next batch of rain in the Western Approaches. A lot can change between then and now I suppose, mostly by how much rain can/will develop off the Channel waters and fall over the land.

It's Friday the 13th today but there's nothing unlucky whatsoever with today's weather as it's nice to actually see some lovely sunshine for a change, something which we haven't really seen here for quite a long time.

Currently around 4°C here in Edinburgh.

0.5c with clearing skies. Going to be very icy tonight. All the standing water turned thick and slushy and wouldn't drain anywhere due to it being so cold. We have slush and a covering of snow on the lawn which has survived the slow thaw this afternoon.

Gale force northerly wind howling through the telegraph lines. Driving rain and a current temperature of 4.3c. When the winds ease in the early hours some of the roads could be interesting with black ice.

Much colder than of late with a biting ENE'ly wind. There was rain earlier but the cloud starts to break the temperature's fallen to 2.9, dew -1.4 - we're back to winter for a day or two!

Yesterday's high was 8.1.

At long last, we finally have our first official air frost of this month at all three of my local stations here in Edinburgh and it's such a shame that we've had to wait until we're about halfway through the month (bearing in mind that this is also the shortest month of what isn't actually a leap year despite it being an even numbered year), especially given that we are still in what should be the polar opposite of high summer (the summer equivalent of this month would be August).

The skies are clear though, so we should get to see some lovely sunshine when the Sun comes up in a short while, at least to begin with.

Given the time of year, it's still not massively cold but the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around -2°C.
