I might as well get in here early and post once for the next 4-5 days. Dull, grey and wet with winds from an easterly quarter and no sunshine. I’ll be back on Thursday.

Mild and cloudy, with a light SSW'ly blowing. 8.3, dew 7.7, with a low of just 7.6 - more like May than February.

I caught the sunrise earlier when I went to check my sea kale project stage set. The first time I've been able to get there this year becuse the road was closed for most of January. The beach has moved as I expected with some notable rock and diarrhoea like landslips but as far as I can see my kale colony, fingers crossed, will be ok. It just needs to push through a thicker shingle layer next month. Probably lots of freshly exposed fossils if I stayed.

But Brians radar though sent me home. Thank you. There's a line of showery rain conveyer belting up off the Channel. Right on the edge of it with no more than a few spots and spits for now.

We glimpsed the sun yesterday afternoon and briefly this morning but don't think it was enough to register.

However, we reached 9.8 C earlier which gave the day a better feel and the mildest  since 14th December!

After 3.6mm overnight, most of the day was pleasant, sometimes bright with a similar glimpse of the sun. That all changed 30 mins ago when the heavens opened again due to a nicely shown on the radar narrowish band of quite heavy rain, with another 3.2mm picked up.

Today's maximum temperature at that particular station is confirmed as 10.0°C to give us our first double figures temperature of this month and of course, that also makes today our mildest day of this month so far by quite a considerable amount.

However, that wasn't quite enough to make today our warmest day of the year so far because that occurred on 11 January 2026 with a maximum temperature of 10.97°C.

Nevertheless, winter is over (at least for now)!!

I notice that today's rain and gloom is of a colder variety. Temp is 3.8 C here and is down to 2.7 C to the south of me at Swanston

Snow looks to be increasing at height again over the Grampians/Cairngorms and is appearing at height south of here

We might see sleet later and tomorrow....woohoo!

After a damp and murky night and morning, suddenly my famed west-facing hobby room is being filled with glorious bright sunshine! 11.4 C & high-80% H, mod SW breeze.

Might even crack open the window to shift the scent of farts and disappointment out of the room.

Hefty downpour here at 2.30-3.30pm. Drove home in it from Lincoln. Lots of surface water/flooding on roads. Seems to be clearing now.

And yet again.....grey and raining....but I can see sleet splodges on the car roof mixed in with the rain. The car roof is up there with the lampost as essential weather equipment 😂

It's down to 2.3 C here at 70m but down to 1.6 C at Swanston (200m). Above there at 300m+ it's already snowcovered at Eastside in the Pentlands
