We are now into another month which is the shortest month of the year (despite this year being an even numbered year, it isn't a leap year so this month only has 28 days in it) and in addition to that, we are now also into the final month of the meteorological winter already.

Last month was a wet month in most places, but not here in Edinburgh. As we go further into this month as well, more rain is forecast in a number of places. With that in mind, this is the very place to enter those all important rainfall totals for this month in your area.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Off to a soggy start here, continuing the trend from January. 8.6mm of rain so far, 17% of the entire month's worth (from the 91-20 average).

Groundwater at Chilgrove 75.34m asl (and that's before today's rain seeps down). The level for 'Possible Impacts' from Flooding is marked on the graph at 75m asl.

And SE Water, not so far from here, is maintaining its hosepipe ban! ( its two major reservoirs are  Ardingly at 100% and Arlington was at 84% a week ago; and groundwater at that end of Sussex is also close to "possible impacts")

42.8 mm in the Downs here in the first 5 days of February, and no let-up in sight. Groundwater 75.68m asl and the graph still rising vertically - but it'll level off at about 77m when all the dry valleys in the chalk become wet valleys.

57.2 mm here this month and more when you go a bit inland. The airport has had 116% of the February long term monthly average so far and Aboyne has had 161%. The models show more to come over each of the next 5 or 6 days.

47.2mm here at the moment and raining again.

Not as bad as some but looks likely another above average month is incoming.

Impressively the current rain “event” total on my WS is 140mm suggesting that it hasn’t really spotted raining since some point last month. Bring on the pattern change.
