There was "only" 10.6mm from the storm here, as the Downs did their usual trick of squeegeeing out the rain from the south. Everything's still absolutely sodden, though, and even though yesterday was a dry day there's still standing water in some of the fields nearby, and my own lawn squelched with every step!

The monthly rainfall is 89mm so far.

Out of our 3 local aquifers (all of which are about 115 metres as their normal range max) only one is any near close to that at about 1.5m away, the other two are still 5+ metres off. This time last year they were all 20cm or so off the top so plenty more rain needed in reality here.

In terms of the actual rainfall amounts, January 2026 was yet another drier than average month and so, the overall deficit from last year continues to grow here whilst it has been more than made up elsewhere. The difference this time though, is that the number of rain days was actually higher than average which is a bit more in line with elsewhere.
