Usual snow desert here in Richmond. Not even up to a spider's ankles

Beast, you must have some snow in Purley, surely?

Level depth 10cm this morning, and it's absolutely hammering down at the moment- a band not really associated with the feature presently coming down across the Moray Firth.

Parts of Kent woke up to a slight dusting this morning (not here at Folkestone, of course where it was a light rain shower). Now quite sunny.

Seems our/my next chance saloon for snow is Wednesday as the UK come under a messy slack type set up, hopefully I'll get to see something before the Atlantic come charging in later on in the week.

Must be up there with the heaviest snow we've ever experienced here. Another 6cm has fallen in the past hour to take the level depth to 16cm now.

I assumed nothing had fallen here as it's totally cloudless and dry-frosty. But I've just been out in the car and noticed a few dozen tiny snow pellets resting on the wipers and door window seals. Then, from the other end of the estate (literally less than 200m away) and towards the town, there's an icing sugar dusting of pellets where there's still shade; those in the sunshine have melted

It's a stunning day here! The Ocado driver parked at the bottom of the hill to our house because kids are sledging down the road on the thin layer of snow and ice. 😂

I’ve just been out for a walk with the dog and it is all very pretty at the moment. Not sure what the amber warning period will bring (anything from nothing to loads) but I thought I would take advantage of the break in the showers.

The Croydon snow shield finally got breached! Decent sized flakes when I did an impromptu lamppost watch at 5.20am, but it had stopped by 6.00am. This was broadly in line with what the Met Office radar predicted at midnight. However, nothing more than a covering on all surfaces, less than 1cm, probably. Obviously with the sun coming out most of it has melted, but there are remnants in sheltered areas, and it's more icy than snowy.

The train of showers finally stopped after 2.5 hours, and in that time the level depth went from 10 to 19cm. Just now finishing a second round of snow clearing which was ever bit as tough as the first!

Well the amber warning was spot on for Moray, 12.30 started heavy snow, has been going since ! Now 23cm and rising . Heaviest snow in this area for a good while. Still just above freezing .

I went out for a run at lunchtime and even with just 20-30m more elevation there was more snow on the ground - the unmade lanes were more or less completely white and there was a covering in shaded and sheltered spots. In the shade the frost has lingered and there were some very slippery pavements with black ice from this morning's rain and snow. I'd expect temperatures to plunge, although the forecasts suggest only a modest frost with a low of -1ºC here tonight. We shall see...

At 15 30 until 15 40/45 there was a very brief shower of ice pellets followed by wet flakes come the end. Ending with wet snow flakes in the wind here in Okehampton . Nothing settled but nice to see 👀

Nothing here yet but A169 Fylingdales and A171 already getting difficult towards coast.

Large volumes of traffic especially on A171. Probably caught out by this mostly in past hour.

A mixed story in east sussex this morning .

The higher parts of the Weald around Crowborough Heathfield and  Ashdown forest a decent covering  maybe 3 or 4 cm in the best spots. Here just north of eastbourne none as with rest of eastbourn none juat a sprinkle on the Downs . A covering further east on the coast tho suprisingly at Bexhill and Hastings

In this setup there are always some locations that get hit more than others- just random chance. Today we are in that sweet spot - level depth now 23cm after another 4cm in the last couple of hours. Going out to the bins at the back was like being in the Cairngorms - snow coming down like crazy and blowing about in the wind. Extraordinary stuff!
