Although the latest ensemble output suggests that temperature anomalies may ease later in the month, there remains a strong chance of 2025 surpassing the 2022 Central England Temperature (CET) record. The current top five years are listed below.

All this century, indeed all in the last 20 years, and this would be three in a row.

Is anyone really still in any doubt about what’s happening? Four? Bledur?  You’d have thought farmers would be more aware than most?

Needs to beat 11.13 for the yearly CET record which was set in 2022 and that requires a CET for December of around 6.0

I have annual CET averages for every 12 month period not just Jan-Dec and it is interesting to note that that the record for this was set for the period May 2006 to April 2007 at 11.66 - so way above anything this years Jan-Dec record could deliver. After last year's coldish Jan at 3.4C, a very mild Jan 2026 could threaten it though.

2025: Another warm year

2025 is in the top 10 warmest years. This year, the average temperature in Denmark will end up as the fourth warmest since 1874. It is not a surprise, but rather a textbook example of how man-made climate change is gradually becoming apparent - also in Denmark.
