There was a drier interlude here this afternoon, but it remained cloudy throughout with today being another completely sunless day at Edinburgh Gogarbank and now, light rain is falling here yet again.
The 18z raw BUFR/SYNOP data shows a maximum temperature of 5.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank but that covers a 12 hour period which started at 6am GMT (06:00 UTC) this morning which is before the start of the actual official observation day at 09:00 UTC and that is then that maximum temperature was actually recorded.
The actual maximum temperature so far is the highest temperature since 09:00 UTC, and that will only be no lower than 3.4°C and we will have to wait until the 21z raw BUFR/SYNOP data comes in before will know that actual maximum temperature.
I can say that this maximum temperature will probably be less than 5°C as the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 3°C.
EDIT:
Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank so far is confirmed as 4.0°, but the temperature here in Edinburgh is still stuck at around 3°C with the rain having now become heavier once again.
